Richard S. DiVilio, 72, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 19, 2019. Richard was born on August 25, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up. On May 6, 1967, Richard and his wife, Rosemary, were married and began their lives together in Brooklyn, where they also started their family.

In 1988, Richard and his family relocated to Staten Island, New York and 14 years ago, settled in Hazlet, New Jersey. Before retirement, Richard worked as a New York City Police Officer in Brooklyn for many years. He was also a proud United States Army Veteran.

Most of all, Richard was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather who was loved immensely by all of his family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Salvatore DiVilio and his dear son-in-law, Alex Handel. Richard is survived by his adoring mother, Lucy DiVilio, his beloved and devoted wife of 52 years, Rosemary (Vacante) DiVilio, and his loving children, Christina Handel of Staten Island, New York, Richard DiVilio of Staten Island, New York, and Toni-Ann DiVilio and her boyfriend, Gino Treglia, of Keansburg, New Jersey, along with his cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Isabella, and James.

Richard will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM, Friday, May 24, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Saturday morning, May 25, 2019 from 8:00 to 8:45 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, May 25, 2019 at 9:30 AM at The Church of St. Catherine Laboure, 110 Bray Avenue, North Middletown, New Jersey 07748.
