Richard Wayne DeWitt, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2019. Born and raised in Kokomo, Indiana. He was a retiree of Rowan University where he taught as a Professor for many years in the Anthropology Department.

He was also a United States Naval Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Rich was a caring, warm loving man who enjoyed people, his family and was affectionately referred to as the “Mayor of South Philly”. He will be sadly missed by the love of his life, Jane Hill.

Beloved father of Kiersten Tate and devoted grandfather of Layla Tate. Brother of the late Roberta K. DeWitt and Retha M. Tolley. Uncle of Brandon Badger, Brent Badger and Lois DeWitt.

Richard will also be missed by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma (Daniel) Newby, April (Max) Ridgway, Debra (Robert) Larch and Jack Hill. Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
