Rita M. Meyer NEW CLEVELAND – Rita was born June 5, 1944, in New Bavaria to the late Leonard and Margaret (Frey) Westrick and the doors to heaven opened for her on Friday, April 27, 2018. She was a graduate in the Holgate class of 1963. On October 1, 1966 she married James Meyer of Glandorf who survives in New Cleveland.

They spent fifty-one years journeying through life together. She is survived by three children: Kathy (Jeff) Herman of Ottawa, Jeff (Jenny) Meyer of Pandora, Mike (Melissa) Meyer of Ottawa; ten grandchildren: Kayla, Kelsey, Breanne, Samantha, and Lexie Herman, Nick, Andrew, and Brad Meyer, Cody and Paige Meyer; siblings: Pat Snow of Findlay and John (Marlene) Westrick of Kentucky; and in-laws: Carol Meyer, John (Joan) Meyer, Marie (John) Hoorman, Norm (Janet) Meyer, Dick (Sharon) Meyer, Pat Meyer, Bill (Kate) Meyer, Elmer (Sharon) Meyer, Frank Meyer, and Alice (David) Maas. Rita was also preceded in death by a son, Gary; and three brothers- in-law: Frosty Snow, Bob Meyer, and Tom Meyer.

Rita took care of her family and also babysat many neighborhood children and grandchildren over the years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland and its Altar Rosary Society, and CLC. She stayed busy attending the many events of her grandchildren and volunteered at the Meadows.

She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, canning, working outside with her flowers, collecting angels and bells, and baking many types of cookies. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland with Msgr. Charles Singler officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m., Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, LEIPSIC where a scripture will begin at 2:45 p.m. and a CLC service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to Putnam County CAP or Putnam County Homecare and Hospice.
