ROBERT ARCHIE CLAYTON age 91, of 983 Cavel Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, NC died Monday morning, December 10, 2018 at his home. Mr. Clayton was born September 15, 1927 in Person County, NC son of the late Johnny Jefferson & Monnie Lee Solomon Clayton. He was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp.

after 42 years of service and was a member of Theresa Baptist Church. Archie enjoyed baseball, playing cards, the beach, and his side job of refurbishing appliances and selling them. Surviving are three grandchildren, Robert Landis Clayton, II, Paul Clayton, Justin Clayton, three great grandchildren, five nephews, a niece, and caregivers, Margaret Dunn and Bradley Weadon.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Clayton is preceded in death by a son, Robert Landis Clayton, Sr., four brothers, Jimmy Clayton, Ozie Clayton, Giles Clayton, Jesse Clayton, and sister, Mary Elizabeth Garrett. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2018 at Theresa Baptist Church with the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services and other times at the home. Pallbearers will be Garry Lee Clayton, Jamie Clayton, Robbie Clayton, Tony Clayton, Tony R. Dunn, and Bradley Weadon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Clayton, Randy Clayton, and Ricky Garrett. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Theresa Baptist Church Building Fund, 3919 Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, NC 27574 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 1571 Glenwood Ave. , Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612.
