Robert B. Dixon, 90, UT Varsity “T” Hall of Famer and longtime Toledo Attorney, died December 25, 2018. Born November 30, 1928 in Toledo to Jessie L. (Dean) and George E. Dixon, Bob was the youngest of five boys. Bob was a 1998 inductee into the University of Toledo Varsity “T” Hall of Fame.

From 1946 – 49 he earned four football varsity letters playing both offensive and defensive tackle for the Rockets. Bob was president of his class at both DeVilbiss High School and the University of Toledo, graduating with honors from UT. After graduation from the University of Michigan College of Law in 1953, he served in the Air Force as a Judge Advocate (JAG) Officer during the Korean War.

In 1956, Bob joined the West Toledo law practice founded in 1914 by his father. During his legal career he worked for thousands of clients and their families in Ohio and Michigan. The Ohio State Bar Association recently honored Bob for 65 years of service as an attorney.

He was president of the Lucas County Bar Association and Chairman of the Sylvania Township Board of Zoning Appeals, and taught real estate license law for the Toledo Real Estate Board for 25 years. He served on the City of Toledo Capital Improvements Committee and was president of the West Toledo Exchange Club. Bob served on the executive committee of YMCA Camp Storer for 15 years.

The DeVilbiss High School Hall of Fame honored him as a member for his athletic accomplishments. Bob met his future wife, Louise Markhus, when both were counselors at Camp Storer. They celebrated their 69th anniversary on December 10, 2018.

They moved to Sylvania in 1959 where Louise founded Little Meadows Nursery School. Bob and Louise enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and attending their grandchildren’s games. Bob is survived by his wife; three sons Randy (Karen), Mark (Lori), and Rob (Phot); and five grandchildren Lucas, Roger, Karla, Mitch, and Robert.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. The family would like to thank the staff at Guardian Angels, especially Cindy, and ProMedica Home Health Care, especially Tammy. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 11A.M. to 1P.

M at Reeb Funeral Home, 5714 N. Main Street, Sylvania, Ohio. Bob will be laid to rest with military honors at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
