Obituary for Robert “Bob” Goldsberry Robert “Bob” George Goldsberry, age 76, of Henderson, KY passed away in the afternoon on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at his home, surrounded by loved ones. Within hours, his home was full of neighbors, family, and friends. Bob was a devout member of Airline Baptist Church, serving on several church committees.
He worked 30 years as a Farm Bureau insurance agent, and 10 years as an independent agent. When he retired, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels through the Gathering Place and was a member of the Master Gardener Association. He was an avid lifelong UK Basketball fan.
Known for his homegrown tomatoes and coveralls, Bob was a farmer at heart. Not only because of his interest in basket weaving and his distinct Southern drawl, but also for his generosity in loving all of God’s creatures. Bob never met a stranger, and he exemplified Christ-like patience and honesty.
A committed husband, loyal father, and jolly grandfather, Bob was loved for his humor, good will, and deep concern for every member of the community. As the angel Clarence says in It’s A Wonderful Life, “Remember no man is a failure who has friends”. Bob’s family extends their arms to you in celebrating him, who they believe to be the richest man in town.
In addition to his parents, Leroy and Nina Goldsberry, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Robert Travis Goldsberry and his brother, Ronald Goldsberry. Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years Linda Goldsberry; daughters, Stacey Clugston (Brian) and Tracie Creamer (Sean) both of Florida; sisters, Linda Long of Evansville, IN and Eleanor Fruit of Henderson, KY; grandchildren: Paige Creamer, Logan Kopp (Amy), Brittany Creamer, MaryKathryn Kopp, and Zachary Creamer. Relatives and friends are invited to Bob’s Life Celebration from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, and again on Saturday starting at 11:00 a.m. at Airline Baptist Church in Henderson, KY.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church with Reverend Nathan Whisnant officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
