Decatur (formerly of East Chicago, Indiana) A Celebration of Life service for our Beloved Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Robert “Bob” Leigh, 84, of Decatur, AL will be Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Watson and Rev. Jess White officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Indiana on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Mr. Leigh died on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at his residence. He was born November 3, 1933, in Hayti, Missouri to Columbus Austin “Jack” Lay and Mary Nell Lewis Lay and raised in East Praire, Missouri.
He was employed as a Mill Mechanic for Inland Steel for 34 years. Upon retiring he worked for Marshall Fields Fine Jewelry. Bob was an active member of Hammond First Assembly of God Church serving years as a Deacon, Board Member and a loyal Choir member.
He moved to Decatur, Alabama in 2011 and was a volunteer at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was a member of the Pilot Club of Decatur. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jack and Mary Nell Lay,and his wife of 51 years, Clara Watson Leigh; grandson, Justin Watts; brothers, Edward and Freddie and sisters: Vivian and Dorothy.
Survivors include: One Son: Robert Leigh (Melina) Three Daughters: Cynthia Massey (Ron), Nancy Bullard (Al) and Susan Parise (Frank) Two Brothers: Allen Lay (Pat) and James Lay (Karen) One Sisters: Shirley Williford Seven Grandchildren: Rachel Brozina, Jenaya Carter, Victoria Dobrowsky, Andrew Leigh, Austin Parise, Paul Pogorzelski, and Brianna Parise.
