Robert “Bobby” Jones, age 82, of Bristol, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Bobby was born on February 24, 1937 in Bristol, TN, a son of the late Herbert Arthur and Hetta Lee Jones. He was a graduate of Bristol Tennessee High School, Carson Newman University, and the University of Virginia.

Bobby retired from the Bristol Virginia City School System in 1991 after working for over 30 years as an educator and principal. He was a lifelong and very active member of the First Baptist Church, Bristol, VA serving his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Randall Jones.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Mooney Jones; son, Nelson Jones (Amy) of Clinton, SC; daughter, Misti Clemente of Gainesville, VA; grandsons, Geran Clemente (Liz), Garrick Clemente (Sally Grace); great grandsons, Xander and Greyson; sister, Greta Phillips; brother, Gary Jones; several nieces and nephews. The memorial service for Bobby will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Kris Aaron and Dr. Gene Eller officiating.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, c/o Special Music/Concerts Fund, 1 Virginia Street, Bristol, VA 24201. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Keith Kyker and his staff of the Holston Valley Cardiac Catheterization Lab for their loving care and kindness.
