Robert “Bob” Eugene Pfeiffer, age 81, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Gateway Regional Medical Center, Granite City, IL. Bob was born July 25, 1937 in Terre Haute, IN, a son of the late Eugene Joseph Pfeiffer and Bernadette (Dicklemeir) Pfeiffer. Bob was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.

On November 14, 1964, Bob married Merlene Jean Leslie, the love of his life in Granite City, IL. He was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Granite City, IL. Bob Retired as an electrician from Olin Corporation after many years of dedicated service.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Bob loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-four years, Merlene Pfeiffer of Granite City, IL; loving daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Robert Fouts of Granite City, IL and Debbie and Joe Henke of Panama, IL; dear sister, Rosemary Bosserman of Terre Haute, IN; proud grandfather to Frank (Amy) Henke, Mark Smith and Mike (Jarica) Henke all of Granite City, IL; proud great-grandfather to Evan O’Brian, Leah Henke, Brooke Henke, Owyn Henke and Kellan Henke all of Granite City, IL; extended family and many wonderful friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL . In celebration of his life, funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.

Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, with full military honors. Memorial donations may be given to Second Baptist Church. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel and church.
