Obituary for Robert C. Williams Jr. It’s with heavy hearts that the family of Robert Charles Williams Jr., lovingly known as Bobby, announces his passing after a long battle with end-stage liver disease on Thursday, December 13, 2018. He was 57. Bobby was born in Naples, Italy to Robert and Ruth (Edge) Williams on April 8, 1961.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Logan Williams, granddaughter Payton Raymond, brother Roger Williams, and nephew Adam Davison. Bobby is survived by his wife Karen of Lakeland, FL, daughter Hayley (Alex) Raymond of Omaha, NE, son Dustin (Erin) Williams of Greenville, SC, daughter Lacey Williams of the home, granddaughter Magnolia Raymond of Omaha, NE. –along with sister Janice (David) Vise of Deland, FL, sister-in-law Deborah Williams of Jacksonville, FL, brothers Richard (Dawn) Williams of Orange City, FL and Ronald (Debbie) Williams of Deland, FL.
and his Aunt, Anita Williams of Deland, FL. Bobby is also survived by a large, loving family of nieces, nephews, and those who consider him their “Uncle Bobby”. Bobby was saved at the age of 10 at a camp in Waycross, GA and loved to share of his time as a camp counselor at Camp Gilead, where on the softball field, he gave his life in full-time service to His Lord, Jesus Christ.
He graduated from Clearwater Christian College with degrees in Bible and Physical Education. While he taught at Mulberry Middle School, he also established the soccer program at Mulberry High School where he loved coaching. In 1996, he and his family entered full-time ministry and moved to Fairmont, NC to begin what became his legacy and life’s service as a missionary with Children’s Bible Ministries (CBM) as founder of Camp Grace.
After 18 years of service in NC, he served a year with CBM in TN before returning full-circle to complete his years of service as Camp Director of Camp Gilead where his love of camp ministry began. Bobby loved well and was well-loved. To his family he was the fun-loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and “Bops”.
To his extended family he is known as friend, leader, coach, mentor, and beloved “Uncle or Mr. Bobby”. His favorite title however and what he will forever be known as is Servant of Jesus Christ. Bobby’s family will receive friends in the Stadium Room of the Family Life Center at Heritage Baptist Church 4202 Pipkin Creek Rd.
, Lakeland from 6:00-8:00 on Sunday, December 16th. The Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00am at Heritage Baptist Church on Monday, December 17th.
