Robert Cruz, age 65 of Grand Haven, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his home. He was born January 31, 1953 in San Antonio, TX to Victor and Maria Elisa (Macias) Davis. Robert attended Hazel Park High School, and later attended Michigan State University and Kirkland Community College.

He worked for the State of Michigan’s Family Independence Agency as a Translator until he retired in 2006. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and restoring cars with his brothers, watching movies, working on computers, and playing guitar in a band. Robert was proud to be an ordained minister with Mount Zion Temple of Auburn Hills, MI, loved talking about God with others, and was eager to spread the good word.

He was a helper to those in need. Robert will be forever remembered by his two daughters, Shavannah (Jason Kincaid) Davis-Cruz of and Angela Cruz; son, Calvin Davis-Cruz; his mother, Maria Elisa Cruz of West Olive; sisters, Elisa Vargas and Dominga (Sundy) Vargas; brothers, Eddie Fields, Charles Lawson, and Steve Lawson; the mother of his children, Gail Bodine of Grand Haven; and his dear friend, Lhonda Kooi of Grand Haven. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Vargas Jr. The Celebration of Life for Robert will be at 11:00 AM Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Watermark Church in Grand Haven with Pastor Steve Thompson officiating.
