Robert D. Crawford Sr., 91, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, August 31, 2018 at home with his loving family by his side. Born July 26, 1927 in Littlestown, PA, he was the son of the late Russell H. Crawford and Dorothy A. (Snyder) Blazina. He was the step-son of the late Dr. William Blazina and Elsie (Gordon) Crawford.
Robert was the loving husband of Florence M. (Coker) Crawford, with whom he shared sixty-three years of marriage. Robert was a 1946 graduate of Hanover High School, Hanover, PA. He was a member of Black Rock Church of the Brethren, Glenville, PA.
Robert was drafted into the United States Army in 1950, serving his country proudly during the Korean War and earning the rank of Sergeant. After his return home, Robert went on to become the owner of R.H. Crawford, Inc., in Hanover, PA, for fifty-three years until his retirement in 2005. Mr. Crawford was a member of PMTA (Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association), the Hanover Elks Lodge #763, the Republican Club, the American Legion Post #14, Hanover, PA, AMVETS Post #22, Hanover, PA, the New Oxford Social Club, and the Hanover Home Association.
He enjoyed going to yard sales, hunting at Snow Shoe Camp and loved spending time with his family. Robert is survived by his children, Donna L. Adams and husband Dwight of Sherrills Ford, NC, Denise A. Fake, Robert D. Crawford, Jr. and wife Mary, and Thomas A. Crawford and wife Joan, all of Hanover, PA; nine grandchildren, Justin Adams, Juel Boes, Jarrod Adams, R. Kyle Fake, Kayla Fake Palmer, Chelsey Crawford, Luke Crawford, Lemuel Crawford and Emily Crawford; twelve great-grandchildren, Ryan, Laine (Gabby), Keilan, Kiera, Karson, Eli, Olivia, Isabel, Riley, Miles, Ivy, Elijah, and one on the way, baby Palmer; and siblings, Joan Olivia of Mendham, NJ, Mary Vickery of Tehachapi, CA, and William Blazina of Opal Creek, OR. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Reuhl S. “Rudy” Fake, and a grandson, Preston Reese.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Robert will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with the Deacon Tony Miller officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA. Viewings and times to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 and from 10:00-11:00 AM, Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the funeral home.
