Obituary for Robert Sommer Robert “Bob” David Sommer, 92, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away June 4, 2018 in Concord, NC. Bob was born on April 9, 1926 in Fort Wayne to the late Barbara Marie Stauffer Sommer and Rev. Lester Ira Sommer.

Bob was a WWII veteran of the US Navy and a graduate of Purdue University. He worked as a Patent Agent for Es Wire and United Technologies. Bob was dedicated to community service and to Saint Joseph United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne where he was a life-long member.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Greg) Murphy, Concord, NC, Trish (Ed) Coyle, Atlanta, GA; sons, David (Barb) Sommer, Bloomington, IL, John Sommer, Villa Park, CA; and 9 grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Alice Rogers Sommer; and two brothers, Jim Sommer and Paul Sommer. A service of celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 16, at Saint Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Rd, with Linda Martin officiating and calling one hour prior.

The family will also receive friends on Friday, June 15, from 4pm to 6pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 5667 N. Clinton St. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, Ossian, IN.
