Robert Denton Blair, 88 of Geneva-on-the-Lake passed away Saturday (April 21st), after a long illness, at his home beside the Great Lake which he loved throughout his life. He was born April 13, 1930 in Poughkeepsie, New York the son of Frederick and Gaye (Henderson) Blair. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army.

He was employed with ESAB Company in Ashtabula until his retirement in 1990. Robert was a member of VFW Post #943; American Legion Post #103; BPOE #208 and had been a member of the Ashtabula Yacht Club. After his family, including his beloved grandsons, his great passion in life was boating.

Surviving him is his wife, Shirley (Bond) Blair; a daughter, Debra Blair (Gary M. Kaplan – companion) of Ashtabula; two grandsons, Todd David Johnson of Grass Valley, CA and Michael Blair (Emma Suzanne)Johnson of Waialua HI; a great granddaughter, Annaleia Rae Johnson and a sister, Jackie (Philip Berry) Zachen of Pensacola, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be Saturday (April 28th) at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd.

Ashtabula with Pastor Adam Page officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery with American Legion Post #103 conducting military rites. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
