Obituary for Robert Edwards “R.E.” Beach Robert Edwards (R.E.) Beach, 73, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on December 23, 2018, at Barnes Jewish Hospital from complications due to a heart attack he suffered on December 6th. He was surrounded by loving family at the time of his passing. R.E. was born in Murphysboro on September 1, 1945, to Joseph and Ruth (Edwards) Beach.

R.E. lived in Chicago, IL, Carbondale, IL, and Cape Girardeau, MO before settling in St. Louis, MO. R.E. was a talented interior designer and worked in the profession throughout his life. R.E. was an avid collector of all things beautiful and enjoyed giving his treasures to those he loved.

He always encouraged others to find beauty in nature and especially loved the bare tree branches of winter. He enjoyed antique and auction house sales and babysitting his great nephews and niece. He especially doted on his niece Ann.

He was a loving and generous brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend. R.E. was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joseph Beach and sister-in-law Margaret (Marlow) Beach Peters. He leaves to mourn his passing a sister, Jane Beach DeMarco; two nieces, Ann DeMarco and Cara (Justin) DeMarco Doerr; one nephew, Joe (Susie) Peters; one great niece, Elizabeth Doerr; and two great nephews, Max Doerr and Will Hawthorne; cousins, Robert Sanders, Ruth Roy, Jeff (Kathy) Edwards, and dear friends Chuck and Sutton Decker.

Visitation for R.E. will be at the First Presbyterian Church, 51 Crescent Drive, Murphysboro, on December 29, 2018. The family will greet visitors at 10:00 and services will follow at 11:00 a.m. The family will host a luncheon in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Remembrances may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Murphysboro or to the Human Rights Campaign at HRC.org.
