Robert’s Obituary Robert Floyd Beegle, 93, longtime resident of the Spruce Creek Fly-In Community passed away February 2, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Audrey Johnson Beegle whom he married December 25, 1947 in Woodbury, NY. Bob is also survived by three daughters: Nancy Lee Badger (Richard), Kim Holly Beegle, DVM and Lynn Erla Beegle of Raleigh, NC: two grandsons, Robert Paul Badger and his partner Joseph of Georgia, VT and Eric Ellison Badger of Raleigh, NC: brother, William Beegle (Elizabeth) of Blairstown NJ and sister, Ellen Costa of Cape Coral, FL as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sisters Elinor Lowman, Marion Van Syckle, Joan Ouram and brother Gordon Beegle. Bob was born June 1, 1925 in Blairstown, NJ, the son of Floyd Elias and Grace (Webbe) Beegle. He was a 1943 graduate of Blairstown High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1950 from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. Soon after he joined Republic Aviation in Farmingdale, NY and began a 35 year career retiring in 1985 as managing Hydraulic Development Engineer during the development of the A-10 Warthog. He was a member of Westminster-by-the Sea Presbyterian Church, a Life Scout, Volusia County Genealogical Society, a former member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Spruce Creek Golf and Country Club.

He liked cruising and playing golf. He authored two books on his family’s history entitled Descendants of Gershom Beegle and Hannah Nicholas of New Jersey and The Beegle Family and Related Families of New Jersey. Copies of both books were accepted by the Library of Congress and the library of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Washington, DC.

The family wishes to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of the E. L. Bennett Veteran’s Memorial Nursing Home and Advent Hospice. Their kindness and care for Bob has meant so much to our family. After a private service interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery.
