He was a retired deckhand; resident and native of Plaquemine, La. Visiting will be at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 5 until 9pm with Rite of Christian Burial at 6:30pm, conducted by Deacon Randy Clement.

Cremation will follow. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Florence Hernandez Cannella; daughters, Tammy Miller and husband Lawrence, Melissa Trimble and husband Robert, and Melissa Dontay and husband Kevin; son, Robert H. Cannella, Jr.; grandchildren, Chad Cannella, Jessica Miller, Crystal Antie, Brittany Morris, Dylan Edwards, Taylor Cannella, Hope Hoyt and Jessie Hill, Jr.; nineteen great grandchildren; brother, Gerald Cannella, Sr. and wife Sandra; special friends, Frank Walls, J.E. Sharon, Peshu Richard and nephew, Gerald Cannella, Jr. Preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Josephine Cannella; and siblings, Sammy, Michael, Anthony, Charles, Victor Jr and Donnie Cannella, Annie Bezet, Louise Barlow, Frances Albert and Marie Schuler. Robert loved to fish and hunt.
