OBITUARY Robert Hector Bachand December 16, 1935 – July 17, 2018 Robert H. Bachand, age 82, of Acushnet, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Frances (Mendonça) Bachand, to whom he had been married for 60 years. He was born in New Bedford, the son of the late Hector and Wilhelmina “Edna” Bachand and a graduate of Fairhaven High School.

Mr. Bachand was a Tool and Die Maker for the Continental Screw Company and American Flexible Conduit both of New Bedford. He enjoyed gardening and was a well-known breeder of tropical birds. In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Kenneth Bachand and his wife Donna of New Bedford, Bruce R. Bachand and his wife Holly of Utah and Shelly Bachand of Acushnet; four grandchildren Emory, Lucas, Kelly Marie and Timothy Bachand; a brother Donald Bachand of Fairhaven; four great-grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew.

Viewing and wake will be Sunday from 5 to 8 PM at the ROCK FUNERAL HOME 1285 Ashley Blvd. , New Bedford. The Funeral Mass will be Monday July, 23rd at 9AM at St. Mary’s Church, Main St., Fairhaven.

Burial will take place in Acushnet Cemetery.
