OBITUARY Gladys Irene Monast August 10, 1927 – September 11, 2018 Gladys “Gladdy” (Foisy) Monast, 91, of New Bedford died peacefully Tuesday, September 11, 2018 in CareOne at New Bedford surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Rene Monast. Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Edgar and Clara (Loader) Foisy she was a lifelong resident.

Gladdy attended New Bedford Beauty Academy and worked as a hairstylist. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Seniors of Fairhaven and a former camper at Ellis Haven for 51 years. Gladys enjoyed playing a mean game of scrabble, spending time with family and friends and she loved to cook.

She is survived by her three children, Steven Monast and his husband John Conroy of Providence, RI, Nancy MacLeod of Dartmouth, and Susan Trahan and her husband Wayne of E. Freetown; one brother, David Foisy and his wife Donna; her dear friend, Elaine Blower; five granddaughters, Melissa MacLeod, Jennifer MacLeod, Maegan MacLeod, Renay Trahan Jones, Ashley Trahan; five great grandchildren Benjamin, Auden, Kailyn, Mehmet and Payton; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Howard Foisy. Her memorial visitation will be Friday, September 14, 2018 4-7 pm at ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd.
