OBITUARY Maria J. Silva September 4, 1932 – September 9, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Maria J. (Freitas) Silva, age 86, of Somerset, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 surrounded by her loving family in St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Manuel C. Silva. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antonio and Isabel (Jesus) Freitas, she spent her youth in the New Bedford area before moving to Somerset over 60 years ago.

She was employed as a Seamstress in the garment industry in several mills in the area. She is survived by her four daughters, Judy Gallant and her Fiancé Chuck French of Franklin, VA, Shirley Perreira and her husband Kenneth of Fall River, Claudia Demers and her husband Bruce of Acushnet and Louise Dalton and her husband Craig of Suffolk, VA; a sister Laurinda Camara of Acushnet; four sisters in-law Maria G. “Georgie” Freitas, Gloria Marques and Doria Marques; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford.

Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in New Bedford. Visitation will be Monday morning from 8:30AM to 9:30AM prior to her mass in the Rock Funeral Home 1285 Ashley Blvd. , New Bedford.
