Leominster – Robert J. “Bob” Dussault, Sr., of Leominster, MA passed away on May 2, 2018 at the Life Care Center in Leominster, after a brief illness. He was 97 years old. Bob was born in Westboro, MA and raised in Fitchburg, MA where he graduated from Fitchburg High School, Class of 1939.

He then joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country as Technician Fifth Grade Anti Tank Company 314th Infantry 79th Division member in Central Europe and Rhineland. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, Rifleman Badge, Anti-Tank Ribbon, European Theater Ribbon w/2 bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal World War II, Army of Occupation Medal-Germany. He was extremely honored to have had the opportunity to serve his country and returned to Europe in 1995 to help commemorate the end of World War II.

Bob worked as a small businessman in downtown Fitchburg for more than 30 years. He was owner/operator of Bob Dussault’s Gulf Station and later, Victory Auto Supply and Speed which he sold when he retired many years ago. Bob was an avid golfer, tennis player and bowler.

He also played other sports well into his 80’s. He was a wonderful man; a devoted husband and father and loyal friend. He will be sadly missed by all who met or knew him.

Bob was a member of St. Leo’s Church in Leominster, MA. Bob is survived by his children, two daughters, Gael Dussault and Susan Bonin (Douglas) of Leominster, MA and a son, Robert J. Dussault, Jr. (Cynthia) of Wake Forest, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; Anya, Alexxa and Sage Dussault of Leominster, Bob Bonin of Clinton and Paige, Brittany and Mitchell Dussault of Wake Forest, NC; one great-granddaughter, Baylee Rae Bonin of Clinton and Fitchburg. He also leaves his brother, Norman Dusseault of Florida and his sister-in-law, Laura Leupold of Fitchburg, MA.

He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Gloria (Leupold) Dussault in 1993, his two sisters; Connie Testagrossa and Eleanor Babineau and his two brothers; Father Emile Dusseault and Richard Dussault. Bob’s Funeral will be held Friday, May 4, 2018, from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West St., Leominster with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Leo’s Church, 128 Main St., Leominster. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Fitchburg.
