Robert John Kerestman “Rabbit”, age 82, of Fairport Harbor passed away on July 19, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born in Fairport Harbor on August 6, 1935 to the Late Priscilla (nee Gall) and George Kerestman. Bob graduated from Fairport Harding High School and joined the Army, where he served in Germany.
He married Shirley on May 20, 1961 in Fairport Harbor and have been together for 57 years. He was very active in his Grandsons lives; never missing any schooling or sporting event and traveled with them wherever they went. Bob was an avid golfer at the Painesville Country Club and Black Brook, and liked to bowl, He was a faithful, lifetime member of the Hungarian Reformed Church where he was involved in the Consistory, Men’s Club, organized and shopped for church dinners/events and did general maintenance.
Bob was also a member of the Hungarian Culture Club and VFW in Fairport Harbor. He loved to be outside whether it was working in his yard, gardening, or being in the pool. He enjoyed traveling to casinos, cruises, and vacationing with the family.
Bob had a sense of humor and was very giving. Survivors are his loving wife Shirley (nee MacKnight) Kerestman of Painesville, Daughter Debbie (Tony) Robb of Mentor; Son Dennis Kerestman of Fairport Harbor, Brother Steven (Lillian) Kerestman of Perry; Grandsons Jared and Jordan Robb, 15 Nieces and Nephews. He also leaves a host of Cousins and Friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his Parents, Sister Olga Zupan and Nephew Tim Kerestman. Visitation will be 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Sunday July 22, 2018 at the Potti Funeral Home 1009 Mentor Ave Painesville. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Hungarian Reformed Church 601 Plum Street Fairport Harbor, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Hungarian Reformed Church. All arrangements are being handled by the Potti Funeral Home.
