Janis S. Branford, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby. Born June 26, 1955 in Painesville she was the daughter of the late Luther Amon and Madeline Marie (Covert) Black. A 1973 graduate of Madison High School, Janis worked as a Closing Support Specialist for Asa Cox Homes.
She was a talented musician and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. A woman of Faith she was an active member of Crossroads Community Church in Madison where she worked as a secretary for many years, helped with the youth group, and played piano on the Praise Team. Her smile would light up the room and she had an infectious laugh.
She had just the right amount of sarcasm and sass, much like her favorite actress Lucille Ball on I Love Lucy. Her grandchildren meant everything to Janis and she cherished the times spent with them. Janis is survived by her children: Erika (Paul) Bates, Ryan (Katrina) Branford; grandchildren: Ian, Kirsten, Landon, Brenton, Kayla, Lauren, and Sebastian; brother: David Black and THE EX: Don Branford.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister Judi and her brother Don. Friends will be received from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Crossroads Community Church, 6685 Middle Ridge Road in Madison. The family suggests contributions to be made in Janis’s name to Asa’s Angels, 2709 North Ridge Road, Painesville, OH 44077 The Behm Family Funeral Home of Madison is assisting the family during this time.
