Son of Ann Woodside (Mentor, OH) and Burton Hugo Woodside (Las Vegas, NV), Brother of Scott Woodside (Brenda), Aunt Aileen Lampella, Uncle Melvin Wainio (Mary Ellen), Uncle Patrick Woodside, Beloved Girlfriend Kristy Brinkley, niece, nephew, many cousins and countless friends. Preceded in death by Nephew Eric Woodside, Maternal Grandparents Tauno & Caroline Wainionpaa, Paternal Grandmother Evelyn Bowser and Uncle Albert Lampella. Kirk graduated Fairport High School in 1988 with honors and went on to the University of Michigan Division of Kinesiology to earn his bachelor’s degree in Movement Science in 1993.
He continued with his education and was Nationally Certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Some highlights of his life include taking 1st place in the Arnold Schwarzenegger body building competition, a walk on role in Kevin Bacon’s film Wild Things and spending multiple years in Spain doing Missionary work for Youth with a Mission for Christ. He returned to Ohio in 2005 to be a full-time caregiver to his mother.
Kirk was an avid sports fan who loved the Michigan Wolverines as well as the friendly banter with his many Ohio State friends. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh. His smile and laughter were infectious.
He also was a musician playing the keyboards for multiple local bands over the years. He was a devoted son to his mother, partner to his girlfriend and faithful friend to all those he encountered. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Eagle Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio with burial to follow at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery on East Street also in Fairport Harbor.
Following the services and burial, please join the family for a Celebration of Life luncheon back at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Kirk’s name.
