Robert Marsh Athey, 81, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 with his family by his side, husband of Dianne Fleming Athey. Mr. Athey was a native of Salisbury, North Carolina and lived most of his life in the Augusta area, where he was a Hospital Director for the VA Medical Center, he was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Additional survivors include his sons who he dearly loved, Robert Mark Athey (Lori), David Greg Athey (Wendy), Thomas Athey, daughters Kellie Rego and Beverly Parnell, four grandchildren Robert Mark Athey, Jr., Jeffrey Athey, Dr. Alexander Athey, Katie Parnell and one great-grand child.

The family would like to thank Homestead Hospice and Dr. Frederick Merrill for their care during Roberts illness. A memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to The American Cancer Society.
