Obituary for Iris K. Latif Iris Kathleen Latif Martinez, Ga – Iris K. Abdel-Latif, 88, loving wife of Dr. Ata Abdel-Latif entered eternal rest Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Brandon Wilde Center Evans, Ga. Iris was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on August 12, 1930. She met her future husband in Chicago, IL and were married on September 10, 1957.
The family moved to Augusta, Ga in 1967 where Dr. Abdel-Latif joined the faculty of the Medical College of Georgia. Mrs. Latif is survived by her husband, to whom she was married for 61 years; her four children: Rhonda (Steven), David (Deborah), Joseph, Rhadi (Erin), eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nephews and nieces in Ireland and Great Britain. She was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas and Ann Graham; brothers: Clifford, Thomas, Alexander, Herbert; as well as her sisters: Mary and Olive.
Iris’s greatest achievement is the lasting legacy of her large and loving family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. With her unbelievable charm, she brought comfort and humor to all she met.
. Iris was selfless, compassionate, and loved her family and friends. She enjoyed playing tennis, reading, and traveling, and was a devout Irish Catholic.
She was a member of St. Teresa Avila in Grovetown, Ga. We wish to thank the staff at Brandon Wilde for their help and care the last few years. A Catholic Prayer Service will be Saturday, December 22, 2018, 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Fr.
Michael Ingram officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Georgia Heart Association, American Heart Association American Stroke Association, 10 Glenlake Pkwy NE, South Tower Ste. 400.
