Robert N. Fournier, 71, of Hollis, died peacefully at the Baron Center in Portland. He had long endured diabetes, heart disease and stroke. He was born February 16, 1947 in Biddeford a son of Addison and Theresa (Parenteau) Fournier and was educated locally, graduating from St. Louis High School in 1966.

Robert attended St. Francis College from 1966 to 1968 and was a graduate of Andover Institute in Boston in 1969, receiving a degree in computer programming. On November 28, 1968 he married Cheryl Ann Noel at St. Patrick’s Church in Portland. Bob held a variety of interesting and exciting jobs throughout his life.

He loved truck driving and, as a driver for York County Biscuit, he referred to himself as one of Keebler’s little elves. One of his favorite jobs was driving for Custom Coach and Limousine. He enjoyed the people, some very famous, whom he felt privileged to meet and serve.

Bob had a high I.Q., quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor that he applied to his storytelling which he immensely enjoyed. He loved participating in and attending all the scouting and sports activities of his children, grandchildren and grandniece. He also enjoyed volunteering his spare time to church and community events in many ways, doing so throughout his life.

Bob liked amusement parks, T.V., football, wrestling and a good movie. He was an avid reader, reading many books in a week, then donating them to the Hollis Library. His favorite places to visit were the White Mountains of NH, his son’s family in Georgia, and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother-in-law Vincent Noel, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by: Cheryl, his wife of 50 years, of Hollis; a son Christopher Noel Fournier of Atlanta, GA; a daughter, Tina Marie Thompson and her husband Stephen of Biddeford; brother-in-law, Daniel Noel and his wife Lenore of Tompkins Cove, NY. He will be missed by grandchildren: Karastina Marie Thompson and long-time partner Jessy Jackson; James Robert Thompson and his wife Chelsie; Jocelyn Noel Fournier, Michael John Thompson, and Jackson Noah Fournier.

Great grandchildren: Brookelynn Marie Thompson and Jayce Ryan Thompson, and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob has gone home and we are very happy for him. Many thanks to all the people who have supported Bob and me throughout this most amazing journey, especially the Hollis Rescue; the entire staff of the Barron Center in Portland whose care to both of us is beyond words.

We were so blessed that Our Heavenly Father chose this facility for Bob, Compassus Hospice. So many lives have been shortened by diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Please no flowers.
