Robert Rudolph Hansen, 83, husband, father and friend to all, returned peacefully to our Heavenly Father on March 15, 2019 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Robert was born on November 4, 1935, in Neiafu, Vava’u, Tonga to the late Mele Talaumote’emoa Luani and Thomas Hansen. Robert married Peta Wolfgramm on July 24, 1971 and was sealed for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.
Robert attended Brigham Young University, Hawaii where he was recognized for being an outstanding performer for the Polynesian Cultural Center. He was selected to represent the PCC as an ambassador, traveling abroad and sharing his talents with people all over the world. Robert would eventually attend Brigham Young University, Provo to pursue a degree in fine arts.
He was selected as a BYU Ambassador for a performance tour group and continued to travel and perform overseas. Through the years, Robert developed a love and passion for music. Robert cultivated his musical talents by singing alongside his wife, Peta, at various family and special events.
Throughout his life, Robert befriended many people with his kind and outgoing demeanor. Robert worked at the University of Utah for over 25 years, gaining many friends during his time there. Robert was known by the campus community for his genuine nature, but most notably his love for the BYU Cougars.
Robert remained loyal, strong and true to the BYU white and blue. Robert lived a simple, but rich life, fulfilling his role as a father and husband. Robert lived a life of service as a temple worker, consistent home teacher and through various callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Robert was a handyman and skilled gardener, which was valuable in his home and to those whom he served. Robert always found a way to exemplify his love for our Savior by serving others. Robert dedicated his life to his faith and family.
He possessed a strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ, which was reflected in the way he lived his life. Robert was a faithful son, caring brother, loving husband and father, and loyal friend to many. Robert is survived by his children Zodiac Wolfgramm, Anthony (Eleni) Hansen, Robert (Sarah) Hansen, Melinda (J.R.) Lutali, Moana (William) Kofe, Raymond (Kaelissa) Hansen, and Frederick (Leanna) Hansen.
He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The viewing for Robert will be held on Friday, March 22 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Saturday, March 23 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am follow by the Bishop’s service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the LDS Pioneer Stake Center located at 1401 West 700 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84104. The burial services will follow at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery on 6500 S Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT 84123.
Services will be held under the direction of the Serenity Funeral Home. The Hansen family would like to recognize and thank the Hillside and Life Care Center staff who cared for Robert since 2013. They would also like to express their love and gratitude to the many people who have expressed their love, prayers and condolences.
