Robert Ray Stone, 76, of 1576 Sandy Creek Church Road, Ringgold, VA, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at SOVAH Health of Danville. Mr. Stone was born on April 3, 1943 in Danville, VA, a son of the late Robert Hillary Stone and Myrtle Hall Stone. He lived most of his life in Ringgold, VA and the Danville area.

He worked for Cloverdale Lumber Company as a Sawmill Lift Operator. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being outdoors, his guns and his tractors. Robert was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.

He was married to Juanita Rowland Stone who survives. Robert was predeceased by two sisters, Hazel Stone and Mary Frith. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Dale Stone, of Ringgold, VA, Robert E. Stone (Diane), of Danville, VA, Michael W. Stone (Jennifer), of Danville, VA, and Chad Stone (Mandy), of Chatham, VA; two sisters, Jean Stone, and Mozelle Stone, both of Ringgold, VA; thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Ferry Road Friends Church, 741 Ferry Road, Danville, VA 24541, with the Reverend Arnold Faw officiating. At other times the family will be at the residence. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Ringgold Fire and Rescue, Box 10, Ringgold, VA 24586 or Riverbend Volunteer Fire Dept.
