Robert VanMeter, 73, of Galion, Oh, formerly of Delphos passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018, at his residence. He was born January 11, 1945, in Lima to Dale and Wanda (Maxson) VanMeter. Both preceded him in death.

On January 13, 2009, he was united in marriage to Sherri Phillips. She survives in Galion. He is survived by one son, Brent VanMeter of Lima; one daughter, Dawn (Ron) Coburn of Delphos; one brother, Mike (Peggy) VanMeter of Delphos; one sister, Diana (Danny) Mullen of Delphos; six grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Rosa Phillips, and brother-in-law, Davis (Jodenia) Phillips.

Robert was retired from Stofcheck Ambulance Service in Marion and Columbus where he had been a medic for 25 years. Before that he was the coordinator of The Delphos EMS for several years. He served in Germany during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 243 in Galion.

He loved hunting , fishing, and spent time golfing. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos with viewing from 10:00-2:00 on that same day. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
