West and Ethel Wilson West. On September 24, 1950 he married Melva Barham and they were married for almost 69 years.

She preceded him in death on February 15, 2019. Bob was a United States Army combat veteran and fought in the European Theatre during WW II. Prior to being sent into combat, he had been selected for the prestigious Army Specialized Training Program and was enrolled at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. Bob spent many months in active combat in France and Germany with Company A and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement. In later years, he attended many Company A reunions around the country and enjoyed getting together with his “old Army Buddies”. After WWII, he attended the Pittsburgh School of Trades on the GI Bill and learned to repair radios and televisions and began working at Bill’s Radio in Conneaut Lake, PA, where he worked for 26 years.

He continued his television servicing career until he retired. Bob was an avid NASCAR fan and became a Texas Ranger fan after the family relocated to Texas in the 1980’s. Although generally reserved, Bob had a terrific sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and entertain his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bob is survived by daughter Jean Lobsinger and her husband Ken of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX; and by his son Don West and his partner Jan Clark of Orlando, FL. Bob is survived by six granddaughters: Jessica Weisel and her husband Dan of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX, Erin West Hellberg and her husband Thomas of Dallas, TX, Rachel West Franck and her husband Andrew of North Richland Hills, TX, Molly West Long and her husband Rob of Atlanta, GA, Danielle Lobsinger of Austin, TX, and Rebecca West of New York City; five great-grandchildren: Lauren, Evelyn and Abigail Weisel, Palmer Hellberg, and Charlotte Franck. Bob is also survived by his sister Marian Klink of Hartstown, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
