Obituary of Robert Kompinski Sr. Robert James Kompinski, 78, of Plains Township, passed on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, while in the care of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Township. Born in Wilkes-Barre, on October 15, 1939, he was the son of the late Walter and Helen (Shinder) Kompinski. Robert grew up in the Plains area and attended the local schools.

He was a graduate of the Plains Memorial High School, class of 1957. In his younger days he enjoyed playing baseball. After graduation, Robert joined the Air Force and was stationed overseas in Africa and Germany as military police.

He completed his term of service and was honorably discharged. Returning home, he worked as an upholsterer for Craft’s Associates for ten years. Recently he worked in construction with the Kaminski Brothers as a construction worker and fuel truck driver.

Robert was a “Jack of All Trades” he loved to experience life. He enjoyed building projects at home with his carpentry skills. He also loved to relax and watch sports to cheer on his favorite teams the Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Philadelphia Phillies.

He was also known to play a round of golf or go hunting and fishing in the local forests and streams. He was most proud of being a father, grandfather, and veteran. He was preceded in death by his; parents; wife Patricia (Beline) Kompinski; and sister Carol Rostock.

Surviving are his daughter Renee Kompinski, Mountain Top; sons Michael and his wife Melissa, Swoyersville; Robert Jr., Plains Township; Kevin, Plains Twp. , and grandchildren Riley and Teagan, Mountain Top. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 17,2018, at 11:00 a.m. from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc. 55 Stark Street, Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. to be held at St. Benedict’s Church, Austin Ave, Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek Twp. with military honors. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00p.
