OBITUARY Roger Allen Wirth October 20, 1948 – August 27, 2018 Roger Allan Wirth was born on October 20, 1948 and died on August 27, 2018 from complication due to diabetes. He was two months shy of his 70th birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Ellen Wirth; brother, Norman Wirth; and sister-in-law, Michelle Monroe Wirth.
Roger was a 1966 graduate of Broadmoor High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (1970) and a Masters of Arts (1971) from Southeastern Louisiana University. In his younger years, Roger enjoyed square dancing.
He was a Baton Rouge Jaycee (Vice President). He was also a Jaycees International Senator. Roger served for several years on the Baton Rouge State Fair board (Treasurer) and was a long time member of the Audubon Kiwanis (Secretary).
For decades, Roger was a faithful member of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church. He was the long-standing Clerk of Session, loved the Saturday morning men’s breakfast at Frank’s on Airline, and enjoyed the fellowship of participating in many activities. Roger was retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
Roger’s family is deeply grateful for those who loved him and served alongside him in these endeavors. Roger leaves his older brothers, David Wirth (Dot) and Philip Wirth; younger sister, Laurie Wirth Palmer (Ed) and younger brother, Brian Wirth. His nieces and nephews are Laura Wirth, Billy Wirth (Debbie), Nicole Wirth White (Bill), Kenneth Monroe Wirth, Madeleine Spencer Pasillas (Farid), Wayde Spencer (Kia), Amanda Cashin, and Chris Wirth.
His great nieces and nephews are Jered Petrie, Derek Wirth, Nova Pasillas, and Grady Cashin. One great-great niece, Layla Petrie. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 7, Broadmoor Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Rev.
