Roger Joseph Maes, 62, of Geneseo, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Unity Pointy Health – Trinity Rock Island. A memorial visitation to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, January 24, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel. Private inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Roger Maes Memorial Fund. Cremation has been accorded. Roger was born on February 25, 1956, the son of Camiel and Mary (Wancour) Maes, in Mt.

Clemens, MI. He graduated from Richmond High School in Richmond, MI, and attended Lake Superior State College, and Michigan State University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. Roger married Debbie E. Gimpel on April 12, 1980, in Sault Ste.

Marie, MI. He was currently employed as the marketing manager for John Deere Harvester, East Moline Works, where he had been employed for 39 years. Roger was a member of Catholic faith.

He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and hunting. Roger especially enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Debbie; daughter, Michaela (Shawn Sproston) Maes, Geneseo; two grandsons, Kale and Axeton; brothers, Marvin (Jeanette) Maes, TN, and Norm (Sally) Maes, MI; and sister, Charlene VanMeter, MI.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Camiel and Mary, and an infant grandchild.
