Roger was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph and M. Joleen Glassett. The third of seven children, he grew up in Salt Lake City through eighth grade. The family then moved to Provo, Utah where he attended high school and Brigham Young University graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering.

He took a 2-year break from college to serve a mission in Brazil for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Roger worked as a mechanical engineer for several years before getting into the home construction business. He moved with his family to Merced and became a high school and jr.

high school math and industrial technology teacher. When the economy was good, he always went back to construction, his true passion. Roger was also an avid outdoorsman and loved to hike, backpack, kayak and sail and was always happy to bring anyone along on his adventures.

His callings with the LDS church allowed him the opportunity to work with the youth as a Boy Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, and primary teacher. He loved his family and was a wonderful father and husband. He enjoyed family reunions with all his siblings and would attend them injured or healthy.

Roger passed from this life on July 18, 2018 due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest daughter Amy. He is survived by his wife, Denise and children Bradley, Wendy, and Joni and his five grandchildren.

He will be missed, but life is eternal and we will see him again. Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 24th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1080 E. Yosemite Avenue in Merced. A viewing will precede the service from 9:00 until 9:45 AM.

Burial will follow at Merced District Cemetery located at 1300 B. Street in Merced. Please have flowers delivered to Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home at 901 W. Main Street, Merced, CA 95340, or consider making a donation to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Merced, Team RMG in lieu of flowers. act.
