Ron Barker, 83, of Moravia passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Centerville Specialty Care. Ron was born on January 7, 1936 in Centerville to Charles & Lydia (Eaton) Barker. On March 15, 1964, Ron was united in marriage to Marilyn Turner in Moravia.

To this union came three children: Allen, Robert and Linda. Ron worked for years as a Tool & Die Mechanic and he enjoyed playing Pool, fishing with kids & grandkids. From age 6, Ron had a love for John Deere tractors and operating them.

As time passed on, he held this fascination with antique John Deere equipment. He was also an inventor and fabricator who was known for making something useful out of scrap. Some of his most memorable pieces include a Go-Cart for the kids, which has lasted for generations, a wood splitter known as one of the first in the area, the winch in the back of his truck for lifting heavy chunks of wood and countless others.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn, children: Allen Barker, Robert Barker (Alisa), Linda Riggall (Brad), grandchildren: Lexi Riggall, Alyssa Barker, Zoe Barker, Cannon Riggall and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Celebration of Ron’s life will be 6:00 pm, Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev.

Dennis Doud officiating. Visitation will be one and a half hours prior to the service from 4:30-6:00 pm. Interment will take place at Concord Cemetery privately at a later date.
