Obituary for Ronald Alpert Sauquoit – Ronald Alpert, 74, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 at home with his wife by his side. Ron was born on April 15, 1944 in New Hartford, the son of Manuel and Margaret (Bush) Alpert. He was a graduate of Dolgeville schools and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Syracuse University.

On August 11, 1979, Ron married Lucy Comito at Colgate University, a blessed union of almost 39 years. Ron was always involved in family businesses. In 1969, he and his dad opened Manny’s Restaurant and Delicatessen on the corner of Oneida St. and the Parkway.

Ron later owned Manny’s Other Place, Devereaux St. In 1977, Ron established Manny’s Parkway Deli. Ron was devoted to his family. He was highly motivated and a perfectionist at heart.

The spiritual connection he had to the land was witnessed by the way he cared for his property, gardens and yard. An athletic man, Ron was an avid skier, both water and snow. If you wanted an honest opinion, you could always count on Ron for his advice.

Surviving besides his beloved wife, Lucy is his daughter, Eva Alpert and Charles Haynes; cherished granddaughter, Penelope Haynes, of Clark Mills; sisters and brother-in-law, Lois and Terry Weaver, MA, Rosalyn Reichman, Utica; brother, Richard Alpert, New Hartford; nieces and nephews, Patrick, Jonathan, Christopher, Timothy, Rebecca, Melissa, Aaron, Tiffany, Xavier and Justin. Ron was predeceased by his nephews, Alexander and Jeremy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, May 18, at 11 a.m. at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd.

, Utica with Rabbi Stephen Galiley, Beit Shalom officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Lucy respectfully invites guests to observe shiva on Sunday, May 20 from 4-7 p.m. at their home, 2801 Mohawk St., Sauquoit.
