Ronald’s Obituary Ronald Bernard Anthofer, age 75, of Coon Rapids passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids with Fr. Brian Feller as Celebrant assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners.

Lector for the Mass will be Carlene Dorpinghaus. Music for the Mass will be by Diane Slater as organist and the Annunciation Choir. Gift bearers will be Ron’s daughters Cheryl Kalama and Linda Sporrer.

Casket bearers will be Daryl Quandt, Kevin Feld, Dave Anthofer, Curtis Scott, and Matt Reiling. Burial will be in the Orange Township Cemetery with military honors by the Coon Rapids American Legion. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids after 4:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a Rosary at 5:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to Annunciation Catholic Church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until the time of Mass.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Ron’s family at www. dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on October 12, 1943, he was the son of George and Alice (Skalla) Anthofer. Ron attended school in a one room school house down the road from their farm.

He then went to Annunciation Catholic School. He was a member of Annunciation Parish all his life. Ron graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1961.

He worked for his uncle on the farm and later was a plumber. He entered the Iowa National Guard in November of 1964 until June of 1970. Ron was married to Rita Louise Laughnan on October 30, 1965, whom he had met on a blind date, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids by Fr.

Dourghty. To this union was born two daughters: Cheryl and Linda. He later did the work he was most passionate about, farming and raising cattle.

Ron is survived by his wife Rita of Coon Rapids; two daughters: Cheryl (Rudy) Kalama of Lincoln, NE, and Linda (Leon) Sporrer of Des Moines; five sisters: Teresa (Allan) Linsheid of Mesa, AZ, Betty (George) Hatton of Brooklyn Park, MN, Irene Scott of Coon Rapids, Clara Anthofer of Coon Rapids, and Joyce (Ken) Schmidt of Juneau, WI; a brother Albert (LaVonne) Anthofer of Carroll; three sisters-in-law Carol Laughnan of Redwing, MN and Theresa (Jerry) Voth of Elmwood, WI, and Joan (Dennis) Belt of Silverdale, WA; and several nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents George and Alice Anthofer; his mother and father-in-law Wilbur and Helen Laughnan; three brothers: Lenard, Joe, and Ed Anthofer; a sister Bernie Reiling; and three brothers-in-law Ray Rieling, Jack Scott, and Tom Laughnan.
