Ronald L. Stammel, 86, of East Hanover Township, Dauphin County passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Cedar Haven, Lebanon. Born June 27, 1932 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Leroy and Reba Pauline (Beltzhover) Stammel and preceded in death by a son Ronald Lee Stammel in 1986. Retired Director of Dauphin County Technical School, he received his bachelor’s degree in Animal Husbandry in 1956 from Delaware Valley University where he was a member of the Alumni Association and voted into the Sports Hall of Fame.

He returned to school and received his master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Shippensburg University, later taking courses at Temple University to receive his appointment in 1981 as director of the Technical School. Ron was a member of Shells Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grantville, Brownstone Lodge #666 F. & A.M., and the PA Association of School Retirees. In East Hanover Township, Dauphin County, he was a township supervisor for many years in the 70’s and 80’s and past president of the Little League Association.

He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the Air National Guard serving with the 271st Division. Surviving are his wife of 59 years Jean E. (Stuckey) Stammel; children Randal L. Stammel, Rick L. Stammel (Pamela M.), Robert L. Stammel (Michelle A.), Lisa K. Conz (Michael C.), and Rodney L. Stammel (April L.); grandchildren Zachary R. Wagner, Logan R. Stammel (Leigha K.), Allyson N. Stammel, Ryan L. Stammel (Emily K.), Tyler L. Gutshall, Alexander W. Stammel, Carter G. Stammel, Quinn O. Stammel, Karis L. Stammel; great grandson Colton R. Stammel; and brother Robert Stammel (Darla). A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Friday, December 21, 2018 at Shells Evangelical Lutheran Church, 287 Shells Church Road, Grantville.

Viewings will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday and 9:00 – 10:00 AM Friday both at the church. Interment, with military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Four Diamonds Fund, P.O. Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033-0852.
