Obituary for Ronald “Ron” L. Galloway Ronald “Ron” LeRoy Galloway passed away peacefully April 21, 2018, with his loving family at his side at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin. Ron was born July 15, 1931, the youngest son of Harry and Laura (Newby) Galloway. Ron was born in Junction City and attended local schools and started working at the Soo Line Railroad at a very young age, leaving his job to proudly serve in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952.

Following his discharge, he returned to work at the Soo Line, and was later united in marriage to Carol Marie Klinkert on August 30, 1954. Stevens Point was their home town until 1971. A mighty fisherman, Ron moved his family to Bevent, Wisconsin where he established and operated his beloved trout farm, Silent Springs Trout Farm, until he retired from the railroad in the mid-80s.

In the 70’s, Ron started taking the family to the Bayfield area, and loved the fishing and charters he scheduled each fall. He bought a cottage on the shore of Lake Superior and as soon as he retired, built his retirement home on that spot on Bayview Park Road and moved to Washburn, Wisconsin. He was indeed an avid fisherman and loved the Great Lakes, the fishing it offered, the fisherman and friends he met along the shore, and the peaceful tranquility of Lake Superior living.

After retirement Ron also became quite the fish carving expert, often bestowing his works of art upon family members who will cherish them forever. He was a great man and “Papa Ron” to all and will be sadly missed. Ron is survived by his loving wife Carol of 63 years, and three sons, Christopher (Jolene) Galloway, Curtis (Bonita) Galloway, and Carey (Jackie) Galloway, ten grandchildren, Gaylee (Joseph) Frechette, Wesley (Staci Lin) Galloway, Ron (Staci) Galloway, Jeffrey (Annie) Galloway, Jason (Monica) Galloway, Eric (Amber Jones) Galloway, Kelley (Dean Potila) Galloway, Kyle (Jolene Peterson) Galloway, Shelby (James Modrak) Galloway, and step-granddaughter, Courtney (Ben Berndt) Phillip, seven great-grandchildren Ian, Madeline and Christian Frechette, and Clayton, Jaxon, Emilie and Cayden Galloway.

He is also survived by two brothers, George (Irene) Galloway and Phillip (Delores) Galloway, three sisters, Florence Yvonne Lewis (David Spindler), Ida Mae (Fred) Buza and Rochelle (James) Pliska, and several nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, Ron was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert (Mary) Galloway and Lovell Galloway, one sister, Mabel (Neil) Hilmer, and nephew, George Galloway, Jr. At Papa Ron’s request, private family services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin.
