Rosa Preston “Mother Preston” Rosa Lee Preston was born on October 20, 1941, in Bay Minette, AL. She was the only child born to the loving union of Lee Mason and Georgia Wright Mason. At an early age, Rosa accepted Christ as her Savior.

She served God throughout her lifetime; as an active and faithful member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, she was diligent. She was a former Usher and gave of herself and her time, whenever and wherever the Lord saw fit.

“Mother Preston” as she was affectionately known, loved everyone and everyone loved her. As a Prayer Warrior, people championed her FAITH when life’s circumstances seemed too much for them to handle. She lifted others up in prayer and trusted God’s mercy.

She met and married John T. Preston and together they reared four beautiful children. Rosa completed her education and went on to provide for her family though honest means. She worked as a Domestic Worker in private homes, Housekeeping for hotels, and she owned a cleaning service.

Rosa Preston enjoyed the simplicities of life; the Lord, family and close friends. She added “praise” to every aspect of the life she lived. She walked by FAITH and was unwavering and steadfast.

In the late evening hours of Friday, October 12, 2018, God saw that it was time for her to take her rest and he sent down the Angels to bring her to Heaven. While home with those she loved, she gently placed her hand in His and left behind her earthly woes. She rests now in the arms of her Savior.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Deacon Willie Adams, and brother, Wilmer Adams. She leaves a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by her two daughters: Phyllis (Otis) French and Karen Preston, both of Bay Minette, AL; two sons: Randy (Evelyn) Preston of Bay Minette, AL, Allen (Mary) Preston of East Grand Forks, Minnesota: ten grandchildren; Tamara (Raheem) Salmon, Otis French, Jr, Randy (Keziah) Preston, Jr, Devonta Preston, Jaquesha Preston, Meka (Brian) Thompkin, Mary Ellen Preston, Cyril Preston, AJ Preston, and Marcel Preston; eleven great grandchildren; two god-sisters, Sally Gandy Dortch, and Cynthia Brown; two aunts, Mary Lee Spears, and Rosa Lee Sankey, other loved relatives, a devoted church family and many friends.
