Rose M. (Blanda) Asselin, 97, formerly of 9 Dixon Street and the Westerly Health Center, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 15, 2019 at the Westerly Health Center at the age of 97. Rose was born in Pawcatuck on June 1, 1921, the daughter of the late Domenic and Angela (Lidestri) Blanda. She was the wife of the late Normand J. Asselin who passed away on October 9, 1971.

Mrs. Asselin is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Normand C. and Sheila (Collins) Asselin of Pawcatuck, twin grandsons, Aaron and Normand Asselin of Pawcatuck, two nephews, Joseph DiFrancesca of Venice, FL and Old Saybrook, CT and Atty. Donald DiFranesca of Groton Long Point, CT and their families. Rose was also pre-deceased by her sister, Margaret DiFrancesca of Norwich.

Rose worked for 35 years for Uneeda Cleaners of Pawcatuck, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Westerly Senior Center, the Westerly Senior Songbirds, the Women of the Moose Club and a communicant at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will take place at St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck, CT on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 12:40 pm.
