It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Rose E. “Rosie” Regnitz, of Cedarburg, announce her peaceful passing on Saturday November 24, 2018, at the age of 90. Rose was born on October 5, 1928 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Stephan and Elizabeth (Nee Skali) Mesarich. She was the beloved wife of Hugo C. Regnitz; married August 21, 1948 at Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.

It remained in the family as Nitz’s Inn until 1991, owned and operated by their son, Bruce Regnitz. A longtime resident of Cedarburg, Rosie was well known as an outstanding cook and baker, preparing desserts for charitable events and winning blue ribbons every year for her jams at the Ozaukee County Fair.
She avidly participated in many classes offered by the Community Center, honing her fine talent as an award-winning ceramics artist, cross-stitcher, and teddy bear crafter. Rosie volunteered to serve her community through numerous organizations, including Faith Lutheran Church, The American Legion Auxiliary – (Rosie was recently honored for her 65+ years of service), the Cedarburg Women’s Club, and the Wisconsin Elections Commission. She was preceded in death by husband Hugo, her parents Stephan and Elizabeth Mesarich, sisters Josephine Pomahac and Elizabeth Loeman, brothers Wilhelm, Stephan, Louis, and Edward Mesarich, and her daughter Debra (Gary) Bergin.
Rosie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Tim (Barb) of Valparaiso, IN, Bruce (Chris) of Chandler, AZ, Tami Regnitz, Toni Larvick, Todd (Kristi) of Ringgold, GA, and Heidi Regnitz (Scott Minarovic) of Bonduel, WI. Rosie will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Brent (Miranda) Regnitz, Erica Bergin, Jennifer Hess, Matthew Larvick (David Garcia), Jake (Claire) Regnitz, Andrew (Danica) Bergin, Tricia Regnitz, Daniel (Christine) Regnitz, and Elizabeth Regnitz. Further survived by great-grandchildren Emma Rose and Olivia Regnitz, Tegan Rose and Beckett Bergin, along with nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many wonderful friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday November 30th at Faith Lutheran Church, N35 W6621 Wilson St, Cedarburg, WI 53012. The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday at the Church from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Immediately following the Funeral Service, a reception celebrating Rosie’s life, will be held at the American Legion Peter Wollner Post 288, W57 N481 Hilbert Ave, Cedarburg, WI 53012, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.
Rosie will be laid to rest next to Hugo in graveside service at Zur Ruhe Cemetery on Saturday December 1st at 10:00 am.
