Rose Klugman, 93, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019. No funeral is planned. Kindly omit flowers and food.

The family suggests contributions to Wayside Waifs, Jewish Family Services, or to the National Federation of the Blind. Rose was born to Gabriel and Goldie (Jakubowski) Altman in Kansas City. She went to Central High School.

In 1946 she married the love of her life, Adolph Klugman, with whom she had two children and 64 years of marriage. Before her children came along, she was an office manager and legal secretary. While raising her children, she served as chair of the Pioneer Women Fund for Children and volunteered in the school PTA and as a den mother for the Cub Scouts.

After the children were old enough, she went back to work and served as an IRS tax examiner for 15 years. During that time, she won multiple awards for outstanding achievement and served as an instructor for IRS executives. We are grateful to the dedication and kindness of Dr. Alexander Davis and his staff, to Rose’s caregiver, Jasmine Rice and Always There Healthcare, and to the staff of Kindred Hospice.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Adolph, her brothers Philip Lawrence and Harold Altman, her niece Andrea Jean Witkop, and her nephew Steven Carl Witkop. She is survived by her son, Mark Klugman, Kansas City; daughter Debbie Klugman, Boise, ID; sister-in-law Lillian (Berlinsky) Altman, Enfield, CT; nephew Paul Altman, Northglenn, CO; niece Ann (Altman) Preston, Longmeadow, MA; and many grand- and great- nieces and nephews. Her love and strength lives on in all of them.
