SOUTH BEND – Rose M. Holston, 87, of Mishawaka, passed away Monday evening, January 7, 2019 at the Sprenger Health Care of Mishawaka. Rose was born July 13, 1931 in Florence, Alabama, to the late Floyd and Myrtle (Jones) Barrier. She attended Central High School.

She was first married to Jim Traver; he preceded her in death on July 31, 1985. Then on November 11, 1973 in South Bend, Rose married Earl Holston; he would precede her in death on July 15, 2002. Rose retired after twenty-five years of service from Uniroyal.

Rose loved her family, especially her grandkids and her dog, Jack. She enjoyed her home and loved to be outside working in the garden. She also enjoyed doing needlework and crocheting.

Surviving are her three children; Sandy (Gary) Moore of Buchanan, Michigan, Joyce L. Bender of South Bend, and Rick (Jackie) Traver of Mishawaka. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and a sister; Sally Horstmann of Edwardsburg, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons; Gary Alan Traver, who passed away September 14, 2001, and Dennis Traver, who passed away August 28, 2017, two sisters; Juanita Shafer, Mary Watson, a brother; Ellis R. Barrier, and a niece; Jenny Navarre, who passed away October 9, 2018.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Palmer Funeral Home – River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46615. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Entombment will be at the Highland Cemetery.
