Rowena’s Obituary Rowena Francis Haas age 99 passed away at the Unionville Hospital January 31, 2019. Rowena Francis (Powell) was born on November 23, 1919 to Leslie and Grace Shultz Powell in Putnam County, Mo. She was raised in Putnam County and attended country schools and later graduated from Unionville High School.

Rowena was united in marriage to John Verland Clark Haas on December 30, 1939. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1993. They lived on a farm north of Unionville and lived in the same house for all of their married life.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Unionville. Rowena is survived by her son, Kenneth and his wife Nancy of Unionville, her grandchildren Kurt and his wife Carla of Palisade, Colorado and Melanie Ellsworth and her husband Chad of Johnston, IA. Also surviving are 4 Greatgrandchildren, Emma Haas, Zane Haas, Ryan Ellsworth and Owen Ellsworth.

She also has two brothers remaining, Jesse Powell and Robert Powell & wife, Jean. Rowena was preceded in death by her husband Johnny, her parents, and three siblings, Mary Roof, Virgil Powell and Geneva Robinson. Rowena loved to be with family and to feed us all.

She was close to all her family including many nieces and nephews. She worked on the farm with Johnny. She loved to sew and cook.

She had a long, good life and we celebrate that life with many happy memories and love. Funeral services for Rowena Haas will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville on Sunday, February 3, 2019, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the PC Café (Meals on Wheels) or the Unionville Cemetery. Contributions may be left or mailed to the Playle and Collins Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
