Carl was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and was the former owner and operator of big ridge body shop.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Silas and Burk Counts. Granddaughter Aretta Danielle Witt Counts and parents George and Etta Counts. Survivors Include: Wife: Alice Counts of Clintwood Children: Roy and wife Shauna Counts of Clintwood Marie and husband Rick Collins of McClure Virginia David Counts of Clintwood Virginia Siblings: Hugh and wife Pat Counts of Baltimore Maryland Jean Counts of Baltimore Maryland Mildred and husband Ronnie of Westfall Four Grandchildren: Isacc Collins, Jenna Counts, Eden Counts and Morgan Hill Special friends: Kristie and Troy Williams, Fern and Roger Deel, Danny and Barbara Powers and Cheryl Hubbard.

Also surviving is several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with services to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday December 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm with clergymen Rick Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Kay Counts Cemetery, Big Ridge section Clintwood.

Pallbearers are Troy Williams, Mickey Phillips, Farrell Hayes, Joseph Lee, Letcher Lee, Rick Collins, Hugh Counts and Jason Hubbard.
