Born on February 15, 1942 in Smithmill, he was the son of the late Martin and Mary (Bungo) Franek. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He worked for Piper Aircraft as a machinist, and then worked for the Moshannon Valley School District as a custodian. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to fish, hunt, and go rattlesnake hunting. On September 9, 1967, Roy married Eileen Reed in Linden, NJ.
She survives at home. Roy will be deeply missed by two children, Scott Franek of Chambersburg, PA, and Dana (Scott) Wrye of Osceola Mills; a grandson, Trevor Franek of Clearfield; and a brother, Russell Franek of Philipsburg. Family will receive friends 5-8 PM Monday and 8:30-9:30 AM Tuesday in Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Ramey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10am in St. Barbara PNCC, Houtzdale. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are strongly encouraged to St. Barbara PNCC, 76 Emery Ave.
