Russell G. Schrader, age 77, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 3:15 P.M. Sunday, December 30, 2018 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Bellefontaine April 14, 1941, to the late Fredrick Nelson and Alice (Floyd) Schrader. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Schrader.

On February 28, 1965, he married Penny Wagaman, and she survives in Bellefontaine. He is also survived by his daughters, Shelley (Ted) LaPorte of Mooresville, North Carolina and Sherrey (Scott) Makemson of Charlotte, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Madeleine, Claire, and Isabelle LaPorte, Olivia, Anna, and Zachary Makemson; two sisters; Ruth Zimmerman of Belle Center, Ohio and Joann Swartz of Lancaster, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Sue Schrader of Bellefontaine; many nieces and nephews and a special dog, Manndie. Russell was a member of the Rushsylvania United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Elks Lodge.

He was a United Staters Navy Veteran. Russell was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and playing golf. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.

Pastor Scott Miller will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Rushsylvania Cemetery in Rushsylvania, Ohio. The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
