Obituary Lakeview – Russell Vern Hopkins, age 83, of Stanwood, passed away on September 15, 2018 at White Oaks in Morley, MI. Russell was born October 26, 1934 and raised in Deerfield Twp. on the family farm, the son of Haskell D and Martha Susie (Radloff) Hopkins.

Russell enjoyed farming, animals, and deer hunting. He was a 4-H Leader and the Austin Twp. Clerk for 30 years.

He was a Farm Bureau member. Russell is survived by his wife Nancy Hopkins of Stanwood; children Danny (Johanna) Hopkins of Remus, Michael Hopkins of Morley, Ronnie Hopkins of Morley, Darwin (Shana) Hopkins of Morley, and Brian (Amber) Hopkins of Howard City; twelve grandchildren Dean (Anna), Bradley (Morgan), Joseph (Amanda), Ashley, Karen (Nick), Steven (Telyse), Brent (Rachel), Cassie (Michael) Hatch, Derek, Katlin, Valerie, and Samantha; two grand-stepsons Branden and Justen Christensen; four great-grandchildren; sister Treva (David) Cornell of Morley; sister-in-law Pauline Hopkins of Jenison; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Russell was preceded in death by his parents Haskell and Martha Hopkins; daughter-in-law Sue Hopkins; two brothers David and Frank Hopkins.

Funeral services for Russell will be on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm with the family accepting friends for visitation at noon at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. All are invited to attend the interment in Higbee Cemetery in Morley at 3:30 pm. Those wishing to contribute in Russell’s memory are asked to consider Hospice of Michigan.
